FSIS is issuing this public health alert out of the “utmost of caution” in order to ensure that consumers with allergies to shrimp (and/or pork) are aware that this soup should not be consumed. A formal recall has not been issued because the product should no longer be available for consumers to purchase. The soup in question was produced by Fortune Avenue Foods, Inc. on November 18, 2021, and was distributed to Trader Joe’s locations nationwide. The following product is subject to the public health alert:
10.75-oz. containers labeled as “TRADER MING’S CHICKEN & VEGETABLE Wonton Soup” with lot code 31FA322 located on the side of the packaging
Additionally, the impacted frozen soups bear the establishment number “EST. P-18823” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Per the USDA, the issue was discovered when Fortune Avenue Foods received a consumer complaint that shrimp and pork were present in bowls labeled as “Chicken & Vegetable Wonton Soup.” While there have been no confirmed reports of any adverse reactions due to consumption of the soup, the FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers. In that vein, consumers with food allergies who have purchased the soup are being urged not to consume it. Instead, the product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
